In 2018 the United States Department of Treasury, through Section 326 of the Patriot Act, made a new requirement for financial technology institutions. This federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record personal information that identifies a primary representative for the organization. Givelify must document a primary representative for each account.
Who is primary representative?
The primary representative is someone with significant responsibility for managing your organization’s legal entity, such as:
- Chief Executive Officer
- Chief Financial Officer
- Chief Operating Officer
- Senior Managing Member
- General Partner
- President
- Vice President
- Treasurer
- Senior Pastor
- Any other individual regularly performing similar functions
You will need to provide the name, address, date of birth, and social security number for this individual.
Why do I need to provide this individual’s social security number? How will I know it will remain secure?
As part of this federal law, Givelify is required to verify the personal information of the primary representative, including their social security number. Givelify does not report this information to government authorities, but we are required to prove that we have it.

Why can’t I use a PO box for the primary representative’s address?
