501(c)3 requirement for nonprofit organizations to use Givelify

  • Updated

If your organization is a nonprofit organization (other than a religious organization or place of worship) with gross annual receipts of $5,000 or more, you are required to register with the IRS as 501(c)3 status and be active to use Givelify to receive donations.

You can access and complete the IRS EIN online application to obtain 501(c)3 status here (Applying for Tax Exempt Status | Internal Revenue Service).

If your organization is a religious organization or place of worship, you are not required to register with the IRS as 501(c)3 status. However, you do need to have a Tax ID/EIN to get a MID for next business day deposits with our payment processors.

You can access and complete the IRS EIN online application to obtain a Tax ID/EIN here (https://sa.www4.irs.gov/modiein/individual/index.jsp).
